Book Description

First edition stated. Price-clipped photo-montage jacket by Len Lye: small loss at head of spine and occasional to extremes; light foxing to inner folds. Orange cloth with gilt titles to spine is entirely clean, bright and unbumped. Entirely clean and square throughout. Some toning to text block edges. Second issue of the first edition, following Graves’s intervention, with asterisks in place of a Sassoon rhyming letter pp.341-3 and similar on p.290 replacing an exert from a letter from a dead friend’s mother trying to communicate with her son by way of spiritualism. A short-lived interim imprint therefore ahead of a reset second impression.
