Book Description

The First UK printing published by The Poetry Bookshop, London in 1922. The BOOK is in Very Good+ condition. Light toning to the spine and edges. The gilt titling remains bright. Top edge gilt. Free from inscriptions. Some toning and spotting to the text-block. The spotting has lightly encroached onto the prelims in places. Mild offsetting to the blank end-papers. The fragile thin paper printed WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good- condition. Some edge-wear with a little loss at the spine ends. Both the front and rear flaps have become detached. Toning to the spine and folds. The wrapper however, comes together well and remains very attractive in the removable Brodart archival cover. This is the correct first issue wrapper with no mention of any other printings on the front panel. The fifth title in the series of 'Georgian Poetry' anthologies. This book contains the first book appearance of D.H. Lawrence's poem 'The Snake. Other contributors include Lascelles Ambercrombie, Martin Armstrong, Edmund Blunden, William H. Pellow, Frank Prewett, Peter Quennell, Vita Sackville-West, Edward Shanks, J. C. Squire and Francis Brett Young. Very scarce with such attributes.
