Book Description

A Unique Copy of the First Trade Edition inscribed " For Miss Veronica Rose with best wishes from Osbert Sitwell July 31st 1942 " and loosely inserted ALS on St James' Club Picadilly notepaper which reads " Dear Miss Rose, I am delighted to sign my books for you as I can see how genuine and innate your love of poetry is. I am afraid I have made a blot on one of the signed pages as a stupid old member of this club bumped into my arm just as I was begining to write. I am so glad you have England Reclaimed be it the book I like least of my books Yours ever Osbert Sitwell " The book itself in a bespoke ie. [home-made] dustwrapper with onlaid prints to both wrapper & binding. "The Blot" is very evident but also that Miss Rose [despite her innate love of poetry] never read the book, as every signature remains unopened. (Could it be the British Stage and Film Actress of that name 1911 -1968? )
