Neate Q215. Ward’s notes show that he led many of the climbs on ‘Cloggy’, some of them made with the co-author Barford. Barford died while climbing with Ward and Bill Murray while descending the Col du Coste Rouge in the Alps. The note to the rear endpaper describes Ward’s first ascent, with the other co- author, Menlove Edwards, of Longland’s Direct Finish (a variant of Longland’s Climb), described by Ward in his In This Short Span (pp. 37-8).
