Full title information from the cover - Fourth edition - Clifford's descriptive guide of Tonbridge Wells containing an account of the ancient and present state of that place with rules for drinking the waters, also every particular interesting to the visitant & resident; embellished with a map of the roads, engravings, vignettes on wood, &c. Title page- The Tunbridge Wells guide to an account of that place, with a particular description of all the towns, villages, antiquities, natural curiosities, ancient & modern seats, founderies, &c within the circumference of sixteen miles with accurate views of the principal objects. Although the title page and cover are undated, page iii, the Address to the reader, is dated August 1827. [iv], viii, [2], 188 pages + small folding map as frontispiece and 15 other plates. The title page and dedication leaf are engraved. There is 1 page of publisher's adverts at the rear. The folding map is browned and spotted. The engraved title page is very browned and spotted. The folding plate facing page 146 is heavily browned and this affects the adjoining pages also. Some spotting, mainly to page edges, throughout. In the original boards with printed paper pasted over, cloth spine and a printed paper label to the spine. Some chipping to the spine and light wear, but overall in very good condition.
