Gilt border front and rear plus gilt borders to inner pastedowns. 9.25ins x 6.25ins, xlviii, [lxiv], 402pp plus frontis, 43 plates (one folding) and four folding charts/maps. A new edition, with prefatory notes by G.S. Laird Clowes, of the voyages undertaken by Anson in the years 1740-1744. Bookplate of Essex historian Kenneth Neale to verso of front free endpaper.Written in pencil to the front of the rear endpaper is "Rebound in H.M. Prison Rochester and presented to Kenneth Neale on retirement from Home Office and Prison Board in June 1982". Fine copy
