Each volume has a frontispiece, a title page with a vignette and a further 38 plates depicting various seats. Each seat is described along with details of the families who owned them. The volumes are foxed throughout, the endpapers, title pages, contents particularly so, the main text moderately so, the plates the least affected with only some having foxing around the edges although the blank reverse sides are affected. Volume 3 is split between the frontispiece and the title page but the rest of the volume is still tight. All edges gilt, decorated covers bright and in beautiful condition.
