Book Description

Third Edition, being the last edition published in the same year as the original issue, which was done on Christmas Eve. By the end of 1844, a total of 13 editions had been printed. 166pp plus 2pp listing the Works of Mr. Charles Dickens. Title page printed in red and blue and dated MDCCCXLIII (1843). First chapter headed "Stave One". The frontispiece (Mr Fezziwig’s Ball) and three other plates (Marley’s Ghost, Scrooge’s third Visitor, The Last of the Spirits) by John Leech are hand-coloured. Original mauve cloth binding, with gilt title block and spine decoration; yellow pastedowns and endpapers; aeg.
