Book Description

Published by Wightman & Co Ltd, London, 1900, 1st edition. Half vellum binding with blue cloth boards. Black lettering to spine. 10.25ins x 7.75ins, patterned endpapers, 260pp. There are 49 full page plates within the text. These mostly depict the title page or first page of churchwardens and overseers' accounts. To the verso of the front free endpaper is a bookplate of a Frank Hayward. On the opposite blank page is a presentation inscription from the author "Mr Frank Hayward, with cordial good wishes, from J.E. Smith, November 1900" and beneath this four lines of poetry in the same hand. Front and rear free endpapers browned. As usual, the vellum is rather grubby and discoloured. Exterior G+, contents VG.
