Book Description

'I understand from Mr William Hay of Glengilp Distillery that he has sold to you the Lochgilphead Distillery' A small collection of letters [10] regarding the sale of property at Springbank in Argyll in 1865 to Sir John Orde [1803-1878]. Various legal issues raised throughout especially as regards to 'Auchendarroch' [i.e. Alexander Campbell] From what I can gather, Orde was interested in purchasing buildings at Springbank in 'a ruinous condition' and was prohibited from using them as a distillery, so I assume that the buildings had once been used a distillery and fallen into decrepitude.
