Original illustrated dust wrapper with photograph of the author to front wrapper by Tom Maschler, very good condition with slight edge wear. In the original glassine wrapper (with some loss). Both glassine and dust wrapper are in a protective outer cover. Unpaginated text, with three full page photographs by Tom Maschler. Original Japanese washi endpapers. Pocket to rear endpaper holding the 45rpm vinyl disc recording of Ginsberg reading the poem, in the original plastic cover within the card envelope.
After The Dialectics of Liberation Congress in July 1967 Ginsberg travelled back with Maschler via Tintern Abbey (to tap into the spirit of Wordsworth) to Maschler’s cottage Carnau, near Capel y Ffin (where Bruce Chatwin wrote “On The Black Hill” a few years later). The road from Hay to Capel y Ffin – The Gospel Pass was a favourite walk of Wordsworth and his sister.
