Louis Eugene du Moulin was born in New Zealand but of French descent. He served in India & was regarded as a musketry expert. He was then transferred to South Africa with the Royal Sussex Regiment & fought in various campaigns there acquiring a reputation for his bravery & organisational skills. his life came to an untimely end when he was shot through the heart during a Boer attack.
