Book Description

Undated, published circa 1919, this is an extremely rare and seemingly unrecorded book, with no copies located in any of the main institutional library collections on copac, A souvenir to the men serving with the Roads Directorate under Brigadier Sir Henry P. Maybury in the First World War. The men charged with repairing and maintaining the roads to ensure the safe movement of men and ordnance during the war in France, East Africa, Italy and Mesopotamia. The book contains well over three hundred portrait photographs of the men in “The Roads Corps”. A slim hardback titled in gilt to the cover, 10 inches tall approx., 96 pages. Apart from mild edge wear, minor marks and bumps, the covers are nice and bright, internally slight surface wear to front blank endpaper, else contents nice and clean.
