Book Description

4to. pp Frontis plus 219 [12] (Index), contemporary calf, front hinge very weak but holding, early signature of James Spragg to title page, later signature of John Watkins 1953 to fly leaf. An interesting association: John Watkins was professor of philosophy at the LSE, a well-known twentieth century writer on problems of metaphysics and science. A nice clean example of the fifth edition of Wollaston s great work, of which the first edition appeared in 1722. This is the rarer of the two states of the fifth edition, that with six leaves. ESTC T200358.
