Book Description

Fifth edition, xvi + 154 + [1] 'Catalogue of Mr Gilpin's Works', uncut, 17 aquatint plates, later brown calf binding, paper label to upper board. The contents are in very good condition, the boards are a touch worn and the book has been re-cased by our bookbinder. There is a little offsetting of the plates.

Overall a handsome example. William Gilpin (1724-1804) was an English artist, Church of England cleric, schoolmaster and author. He is most known for his travel writing.
