General observation - each volume may be opened and the volume read with reasonable ease. It is very rare to find a set complete and with all sixty illustrations in superb condition and extremely rare in the original boards. Frontis tissue guards present. All pages top edge gilt and fore- and bottom - rough cut. General foxing to endpapers, pages very clean, some pages unopened, generally corners bumped, spine extremes some minor loss. Wuthering Heights, joints cracked, slight marking to lower left front board. Jane Eyre Vol 1, external cracking to spine top left, a crack to rear board top inner (see images of internal and external), front joint cracked. Jane Eyre Vol 2, front hinge cracked, rear hinge fine. Villette Vol 1, hinges firm. Villette Vol 2, two slight indentations to front board. Shirley Vol 1, front hinge cracked though holding, rear hinge firm. Shirley Vol 2, front hinge cracked, spine decoration loose and would benefit from expert treatment, rear hinge firm. Wildfell Hall Vol 1, both hinges cracked though holding, Wildfell Hall and Agnes Grey Vol 2, front hinge cracked, rear hinge firm. The Professor, front hinge cracked though holding, rear hinge firm.
