Hardback. Three volumes complete. First English edition. 484pp.+504pp.+442pp. Text in English. Half bound in leather with marbled papers to sides, marbled closed page edges and marbled endpapers. Raised bands to spine with gilt detail. Black leather label and gilt titles to spine. Leather to compartments is blind impressed with faint repeating pattern. Engraving to title page and many further illustrations throughout. Binding is sound though worn. Leather is slightly faded with numerous surface scuffs and small nicks. External hinges are rubbed but remain sound and internally all three books are free from cracking to joints and gatherings are tight. Text is clean and pages are crisp making for a pleasant to read set. Marbled papers are surface scuffed but generally clean. Some bumping to corners. Tiny areas of board are exposed to the edges where the papers are very rubbed. More photographs available.
