Dawson is an interesting figure - Born in Wandsworth he travelled widely in India Ceylon, Mauritius,South America, West Africa,Morocco and Europe.His many published works include numerous popular books on dogs as well as travel and political analysis. Several of his novels were set in Morocco and he had a habit of dressing in Moorish costume to promote them.
