8vo. (5.8 x 4 inches). Illustrated with twenty five full page steel engravings, each with a tissue paper guard, and 12 maps with hand coloured outlines, some double page. Contemporary full black morocco binding by Courtier, with elaborate blind tooled decoration to both boards and the spine, which is also lettered in gilt. Gilt inner dentelles. All page edges gauffered and gilded. Brass strips with decorative corners to the edges of the boards and engraved clasp. Yellow coated endpapers. The front free endpaper has been removed but replaced with a colour printed card offering Christmas wishes. Armorial bookplate on the front pastedown endpaper. A fine and bright example and scarce in such beautiful original condition.
