Book Description

The History of the 62nd (West Riding) Division 1914-1919 by Everard Wyrall (John Lane The Bodley Head Limited, 1st edition [1924-25]†). Hardback - publisher's vellum binding in two volumes, title in gilt to spines, decoration in gilt to front boards, page-block with top edge gilt. pp viii, 249; viii, 214; plus b/w illustrations and fold-out maps. 9 x 6 inches approx. (229mm x 147mm). Vellum grubby, marked and stained; boards warped and bowed, typical of vellum bindings; shelfwear and bumping. Pages dusty, some occasional foxing; edges of page block dusty and spotted; pages roughly cut, some untidily with tears into the fore-edge margin; gilt to top edge dulled and dusty. LACKING one map - appears never to have been bound in - a photocopy replacement loosely inserted. Overall, showing wear but otherwise a good solid set in the less common vellum binding.
