Published by W. Whellan & Co, Pontefract and Whittaker & Co, London, 1860, 1st edition. Half leather binding with buckram cloth boards. Gilt lettering and decoration to spine. 11.5ins x 9ins, vi, 896pp, viii (indices and appendices). Printed in two column format. Includes sections written by Thomas Wright, Rev J.G. Cummings and Harriet Martineau. Occasional very light foxing with the half title page being somewhat heavier foxed. Nb the preface refers to a geological map, this is not present and does not seem to be present in any other copies listed online. Rebound (not recently) and with new endpapers. Spine lightly faded, overall VG. Nb heavy book (3.1kg pre-packing) may incur incur extra postal charges.
