Book Description
No publishing data listed but presueambly published by J. Whitehead & Sons, Kennington, Marble importers, as a promotional book. The British Library entry gives "1930?" as the date. White vellum spine, black paper covered boards. White paper label with black lettering to front cover. Oblong format, 8.75ins x 10.5ins, unpaginated. Comprises 2 blank pages after the endpapers, an illustration of a stonemason, title page with two vignette illustrations, 2pp text, 13pp illustrations, 2pp text, 9pp illustrations, list of recent marble contracts, vignette "finis" page, 2 blank pages. All pages printed on recto only. Of the 22 illustrations 16 are by Walcot and 6 by Brangwyn. They depict the Italian quarries and the firms Kennington works. Small stain to the base of the front pastedown and front free endpaper. Vellum spine darkened. Small (one inch ) split to edge of spine. Boards rubbed to corners. Pinprick hole to paper label. Internally VG, externally G to G+. Scarce.
