Hardback. Large format: 330 by 250mm (13 by 9¾ inches). Half bound with dark brown suede to spine and corners with marbled papers to boards. Leather label with gilt titles. Possibly spine has been re-backed with original label from a leather binding preserved but this has occurred some time ago. Some blind impressed decoration to spine. Plates and pedigrees throughout. Spine is in very good condition but there are some minor surface marks. Corners are rubbed with exposed board to one. Marbled papers are scuffed with some occasional surface loss and a medium sized brown mark to front. Internally binding remains sound and the pages turn well but there is a little weakness to some of the gatherings. There are splits at both endpaper hinges but binding remains attached however the title page is partially detached. Pedigrees are all present but some are badly folded. Two have been mended with now-yellowed tape. There are two loose portraits but these are the wrong size for the book and now portraits are listed amongst the plates so these are probably from elsewhere. They are possibly of Lady Anne Clifford. Also loosely laid in is a homemade map of Broughton village showing fields and names of tenants. This appears to have been traced from another volume and is an early to mid-twentieth century style of handwriting.
