Five raised bands to spine, gilt lettering to second & 3rd compartments, black "leaf" decoration to others. 11.5ins x 9.25ins, marbled endpapers, xii, 192pp, 80pp appendix and index, plus frontis and 20 plates including a coloured map. Also vignette to title page, illustration to dedication page and 10 illustrations within the text. Many of the plates are tinted with a sepia effect. Scattered light foxing, but the plates are mostly unaffected. Previous owners bookplate to front pastedown The binding is tight and attractive.
