Book Description

The Dark of the Sun, Wilbur Smith, Hardback, 1/1, Heinemann, 1965 A scarce first impression of the first edition of Wilbur Smith's second novel. The book is a fictional account of the ongoing Congo crisis at the time and like his first novel was banned in South Africa. The binding is tight and straight, the boards clean with slight fading to the top edge. Gilt lettering is clear and bright. The endpapers and pages are clean without tears, marks or inscriptions save an owner's name and date to the first free endpaper. Page edges are slightly toned. The unclipped jacket has retained its colouring well. Nibbling to the top and bottom of the spine and some rubbing to the creases. Small nick to the top edge of the rear of the jacket. All considered a very good copy. Will be dispatched promptly, fully insured and professionally packaged.
