Book Description

Modern green cloth with gilt titles to spine on leather label. Date in gilt with gilt ruling. 74 illustrations. Rare in near fine condition and lovely binding with gilt.. No inscriptions. Very clean and tight copy. Ben Humble was a prolific climber and mountaineer especially in the Ilse of Skye region. He never carried water when completing a Traverse of the Skye Ridge but recommended 'Carrying a straw to suck water out of any small puddles of water he found on high on the rocky ridge'. Humble was a great raconteur; asked why he retired from dentistry, he replied; ' He was becoming deaf and he no longer could hear the buggers screaming!' A wonderful character and exponent of the delights of climbing in Skye. A great addition to any library of mountaineering and Scottish climbing. Would make a special gift or as a presentation.
