Hardback. Children’s classic introduced by Herbert Strang (the pseudonym of two men: George Herbert Ely and Charles James L'Estrange who collectively wrote adventure stories). Attractively bound in green cloth with a stylised rose pattern in gilt and black and in the Mackintosh / Glasgow style. Decorated to front and to spine. Lettered in gilt. Colour frontis. and two further colour plates. Endpapers are illustrated and show the Herbert Strang’s Library logo.
Cloth is a little rubbed to very edges and there are few, very faint minor marks to the cloth. Faint foxing to title page and rarely within. Some foxing to the closed page edges. Loosening at the gutter next to the frontis has been stabilised with professional tape, hardly visible, that will not peel or turn brown. Text is clean. Binding is sound.
