Book Description

Hardback. First edition. Signed by Kenneth Hopkins. 'This volume of Advice to a Young Poet contains 70 complete letters written in the three and a half years before Llewelyn Powys' death in 1939: forty-eight by Powys, fourteen by Hopkins, and eight by Alyse Gregory, Powys' wife, written to Hopkins when her husband was too ill to write.' The book was owned and signed by Michael P. Harris, who was a friend of Daphne Fraenkel, and connected to the Carrefour Press. Kenneth Hopkins published Llewelyn Powys’ brother John Coper Powys’ poetry in 1964. There is a colour photograph of Kenneth Hopkins by Michael P. Harris pasted behind the front dust wrapper flap. There are numerous pencil annotations throughout by Michael P. Harris. Dust wrapper is a little rubbed to spine ends and has a small closed tear to head of the spine. Very clean.
