Book Description
‘The Battle of Bosworth-Field, Between Richard The Third, And Henry Earl Of Richmond, August 22, 1485, Wherein Is Described The Approach Of Both Armies With A Plan Of The battle, It’s Consequences, The Fall, Treatment, And character Of Richard’ ~ by W. Hutton, FASS; printed by Pearson And Rollason 1788. This is the original binding - full calf, with 5 raised bands (actually 2 of the bands are hardly visible) with title in gilt on a red label. The book has had remedial work over many years’ Title page - which has been trimmed down a bit - has become detached at some time in its life and has been ‘stuck’ back to the Preface page in a slightly careless way. There is a frontispiece of King Richard lll. 8vo, lxxxiv + 180pps + end pps; there is a fold out ‘Plan Of Bosworth Field’ after p lxxxiv which has a few small tears on it; covers are fairly worn with a few small holes on the spine; covers are firmly attached to the spine/book; there are some small brown damp marks on inside front cover/page with a crack showing; a small piece of the top corner of page 179/80 has been torn off; there is some very occasional foxing. Otherwise book is in quite good condition and very easy to read.
