Book Description

A curious production not listed in COPAC combining two unrelated works united by the same illustrator who is un- identified. The first is the best know novel by Mary Denison who wrote over 60 books many under the pseudonym Clara Vance. Her husband was the Rev. Charles Wheeler Denison, at that time editor of the Emancipator, the first anti slavery journal in New York. The second, is a follow up to the authors popular " Life in Danbury " [Connecticut] 1873 by the"Dansbury News Man" and again not recorded by COPAC. To this is added an elaborate "Bookplate" in the form of an original pen & ink drawing on the free endpaper, signed and dated 1896 for John Bloomfield late Color Sergeant 2nd Battalion Princess of Wales Own Yorkshire Regiment. The Lion & Lamb Inn at Braintree Essex.
