Book Description

10.2 x 16.7 cm red cloth boards with gilt stamped titles and decoration to the front and spine and blind stamped decoration to the rear. All edges gilt, yellow endpapers, [2] 96 pp with hand coloured frontispiece and title page and 60 illustrations within the text 50 of them hand coloured. There is some rubbing to the corners and edges and chipped/rubbed spine corners. Internally clean and bright with an old repair to the gutter edge of page 55, occasional light handling marks and a gift inscription to the recto of the frontispiece. A scarce book, charmingly illustrated intended to act as both as a guide to London Zoo visitors and an instructive work concerning the animals contained within its walls.
