Book Description

1st Edition, 24.4 x 30.5 cm fawn cloth gilt stamped titles to the front and spine. Orange endpapers, unpaginated [32] with coloured illustrations throughout and with typography and title page design by Jan Pienkowski. In addition there are four large folding plates measuring 50 x 58 cm. In original unclipped jacket priced at 30s and £1.50 net. The boards are clean and the gilt titles bright. There is a little pushing to the corners and a tiny 2mm split to the upper front joint. Internally clean, without name, inscription or bookplate. All four of the very large folding plates are present and undamaged. The dust jacket, which is now protected in a removable, clear cover (not shown), has rubbing to the spine tips. edges and corners with 1cm closed tears to the upper joints and a 0.5 cm closed tear on the bottom of the rear fore edge. A really brightly coloured illustrated book, scarce as a first edition and even scarcer in a dust jacket.
