Book Description

First Edition (see bibliography Todd & Bowden 112Aa]), Edinburgh 1818. 3 Volumes. Books are very good and bound in attractive Georgian quarter tan calf over marbled boards. Titled and heavily decorated in gilt to spine panels. Some chipping to extremities, cosmetic edgewear,a little rubbing to the boards, nevertheless strong solid and handsome. Internally clean and fresh. Bound without half titles. An extremly attractive and scarce set. FYI: Scott did not publicly acknowledge authorship until 1827. So the author in this book is mentioned as 'Author of Waverley, Guy Mannering and The Antiquary'.
