Riding To The Tigris, Freya Stark, John Murray, 1959, First Edition, First Impression Written by one of the first non-Arabs known to travel through the southern Arabian Desert in modern times, this book tells her story of a horseback track across the high Turkish plateau and on to the Tigris River. The book is illustrated throughout and a fully intact map is inlaid to the rear. The book is inner fine condition. The binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering on the spine bright. There is a crease mark to the bottom corner of the front board and minimal shelf wear to the top and bottom edges of the slightly darkened spine. The end papers and pages are free from marks, tears and inscriptions. The unclipped dust jacket is in very good condition with wear to all the corners, nibbling to the top and bottom edges of the front cover, self wear and slight loss to the top edge of the spine, shelf wear to the bottom edge of the spine, nibbling to the top edge of the back cover and minimal nibbling to the bottom edge of the spine. Will be dispatched carefully wrapped in bubblewrap and a cardboard box.
