FIRST EDITION; despite the caveats above, a complete copy in original state of the first ediiton of this hugely popular conduct book, based by John Trusler upon Chesterfield's work of guidance for his son. In its first year of publication it was reprinted no less than five times by Bell, pirated in various forms, including several Dublin printings; it later caught on in America, and proved, one assumes, something of a money-spinner for the business minded educationalist John Trusler who had capitalized on Chesterfield's name to his own advantage.
