Book Description

Full calf binding over wooden boards. Raised bands with gilt decoration and gilt titles to the spine. Gilt decoration to board edges. Text in Latin throughout. This eighteenth centuyr printing contains Paulus Orosius’ most important work Historiae Adversus Paganos as well as Apologeticus contra Pelagium de Arbitrii libertate. 250 by 220mm (9¾ by 8¾ inches). Leather is a little scuffed and occasionally scratched with some changes in colour mainly to the upper board. The leather retains a lovely patina and the gilt is bright. Front endpaper is wrinkled and age toned. Faint stain affecting a portion of the earlier pages to the margins and occasionally causing wrinkling. One page has a short closed tear. Suggestion of dustiness occasionally. Text is generally clean and firmly bound however. An attractive, clean, tight and square copy.
