Text German. Very scarce. A comprehensive, well illustrated textbook of advanced crystallography written in the style of Groth's Physikalische Krystallographie. Theodor Liebisch (1852-1922) was a German petrologist & mineralogist. He was curator of the Mineralogical Museum of the University of Berlin, and later Professor of mineralogy and crystallography at Breslau (1880), Greifswald (1883), Königsberg (1884), Göttingen (1887) and Berlin (1908). From 1885 to 1921, he edited Neues Jahrbuch für Mineralogie, Geologie und Paläontologie.

8vo, cont. half vellum, leather title-piece (lightly scuffed), teg, other edges uncut, marbled endpapers. With book-plate of the Herbert Lister Bowman Library, Laboratory of Mineralogy, University of Oxford. Bowman (1874-1942) was Waynflete Professor of Mineralogy and Crystallography. Also, with small book-plate and ink stamp of James Walker (Christ Church) (1857-1929), demonstrator in the Clarendon Laboratory, Vice-President of the Physical Society. [46104]
