Book Description

Two Pieces of original art work illustrating 'The Runaway Soldier' by Fruma Gottschalk by Simon Lissin, Ink drawings on board. "Simon Lissim, who belonged unmistakably to the twentieth century, was nevertheless a modern example of Renaissance man, for his achievements were spread over a wide spectrum with theatrical décor at one end and porcelain designs at the other. Between were paintings in gouache and scraperboard, and designs for crystal, cutlery and jewellery.” -- Raymond Lister. These pictures were gifted to Rory lister, Raymond's son, in 1958, from whom we purchased them. In original envelope with Lisson's address. Probably addressed to Rory Lister in his own hand.
