Original airbrush design 500 x 700 mm mounted on thick board, signed in pencil to bottom margin, a couple of light surface scratches. Bill Botten’s wraparound design for Ballard’s futuristic dystopian novel following an expedition to a North America rendered uninhabitable by an ecological disaster following an energy crisis.
Dealer Notes
Botten produced around 120 cover designs in the 1960s, 70s and 80s, including 6 covers for titles by J.G. Ballard. He understood the structure of the dust wrapper and frequently wrapped his artwork to incorporate the spine and rear cover, this stunning design being one of his most successful.
