A typescript copy of the muster roll for this regiment from its raising by Major Jacob in 1858 as the 1st Biluch Rifles (Jacob’s Rifles) through its various designation changes: 30th Regiment of Bombay Native Infantry or 3rd Belooch Battalion, 30th Bombay Infantry, 30th Baluch Infantry, 130th Baluchis, 130th Prince of Wales’s Own Baluchis to 130th King George’s Own Baluchis. The regiment served in the 2nd Afghan War [1778 - 80], suffering heavy casualties, and was sent to China to suppress the Boxer rebellion in 1900.
Initially only the senior British officers are listed, from 1877 the native officers are listed in the muster. John Oliver Mennie [born 1864] who compiled, or ordered the production of this typescript, entered army service in 1884 and was appointed Commandant of the regiment in 1910. He retired in 1920.
