Observations on the River Wye, and Several parts of South Wales, &c. Relative chiefly to Picturesque Beauty: made in the summer of the year 1770

Book Description
Fourth edition. Printed by A. Strahan for T. Cadell Junior and W. Davies, Strand. London. 1800. 12mo. Half title, Title, xvi, 160pp. Original binding and boards dusty and worn. Spine frayed and upper board hanging by the top thread. Edges untrimmed. Toning and spotting throughout. Signature of Edw. Bromhead to the title page. The Reverend William Gilpin pioneered the Wye Tour and published the first guidebook to the Wye. This edition of that work led the way in a pocket sized guidebook for the Wye Tourist. From the preface: "It seemed better to give a new edition without any prints... a more portable size seemed more convenient to such travellers as think it worth their while to take these observations along with them".
