Dealer Notes
By the mid-1800s Cardiff was a busy port but lack of proper dock facilities led the 2nd Marquis of Bute to back the construction of the (West) Bute Dock which was designed by Smyth, the author of this work. The dock opened in 1839. Written just before the Taff Vale Railway first opened for traffic, this is Smyth's argument for the Marquis of Bute's vision for the expansion of Cardiff docks. Uncommon.
