Previous owner s ink signature on endpapers of both volumes; boards, edges and corners a little rubbed and scratched, prelims stained and page edges browned, occasional light foxing throughout, small tear to foot of Vol. 2 p.185 mended with tape with no loss, otherwise binding tight and text clear. Attractive, if somewhat worn, account of the campaigns of one of the leading military figures of nineteenth-century Britain. The author was also a British soldier who saw service in the Peninsula War and other military operations.
