Hand-coloured lithographed map game 555 x 745 mm. the map showing the outward route from England to Calcutta via the Cape and back via Bombay and Aden, within a wide border of 36 historical scenes on 3 sides, and upper border with title and 6 medallion portraits of monarchs from George I to Victoria, 3 large vignette views (Calcutta; Government House, Madras; Bombay Harbour), dissected and laid on linen, folded into the original cloth case, hand coloured paper label to front cover, lacking the cloth ties.
Dealer Notes
From 1842 - 1879 David Ogilvy and his family produced over 200 games, this one likely to capitalise on the first Anglo-Sikh War [1845/6]. Presumably this was issued with a book of instructions, game pieces and a dice or teetotum, but, as often with these game boards, not present here.
