First edition. 8vo. pp. xv, 261; 4 portraits; occasional foxing, else very good in the original cloth, gilt, in original d.-w. which is somewhat worn with loss to foot of spine and much of rear panel. Signed by Wollaston’s son, Nicholas, to dedication leaf on which he is mentioned.

Chapter 8 of the present work prints extracts from his journal of the expedition. Other chapters offer material relating to Wollaston's 1905 ascent of Ruwenzori, travels in Colombia, New Guinea and Lapland, and to the Great War. Wollaston died in 1930, murdered by a Cambridge student. His son, Nicholas, who has signed this copy, in 2003 published his book My Father, Sandy.
