Printed by Edward Baines for Longman, Hurst, and Co., 1820, 1823, quarto, 2 vols bound together, 506, 200pp., includes directions to the binder, advertisement explaining the arrangement of the volumes and an extensive index at rear; 3 engraved portraits of George III at the period of his coronation from a painting by Sir Joshua Reynolds, the Earl of Chatham and George Washington. First volume deals with the accession in 1760 to the breaking out of war 1n 1792, the second vol. (volume IV) deals with the years from 1816 -1820 ( the author indicates in the advertisement at the front of the book that the middle 2 vol. section is published separately as the Wars of the French Revolution. Full calf, original leather covered boards, spine rebacked with contrasting label, gilt title, bands and fleur-de-lys decoration; slight creasing to top corners of pp.123 ¿ 129 of first vol., some offsetting and slight foxing to title page and endpapers, some pencil marks, other wise clean copy; handsome binding of this rare work.
