~ James Lawson Drummond (1783-1853) was an Irish physician, naturalist and botanist. From 1835 to 1836 he was Professor of Botany at the Belfast Academical Institution, and he was the first President of the Belfast Natural History Society. The majority of the illustrations were drawn by G.W. Bonner. He was also the author of Letters to a Young Naturalist on the Study of Nature. His botanical notebooks are held at St Andrews University.
