Delightful miniature Book of Common Prayer in an unusual narrow “finger” format that would have fitted neatly into a lady’s hand, glove or tiny reticule. Bound in full vellum with decorated with a flower and trailing leaves in blue and gilt to the front and the tile to the spine. Gilt to all edges No date. 599pp. Finger format: 90 by 30mm (3½ by 1¼ inches). Vellum is darkened and with a few minor marks and surface scratches. Decorations are little faded and rubbed. there is a slight suggestion of looseness to the first gathering but the binding remains sound and text is clean.
