NANSEN, Fridtjof. Farthest North. Being the record of a voyage of exploration of the ship Fram 1893-96. First edition. Two volumes. About 120 full-page and numerous text illustrations, and 16 coloured plates in facsimile from Dr Nansen's own sketches, etched portrait, photogravures and maps. A good copy set in original blue gilt cloth. 127 plates, with 16 in colour, 92 illustrations to the text and 4 folding colour maps. Scuff mark to upper board of Vol II, and some rubbing to the extremities, and occasional slight foxing. Armorial book-plate of Cordell William Firebrace.

~ Captain Cordell William Firebrace (1865-1934) was born in Australia and moved to England where he joined the 7th Hussars. He eventually became a JP and was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries in 1930. He returned to Australia after his father's death in 1903 to take up an inheritance but continued to spend time in England at Elmstone Court in Kent.
