The set of 6 uniformly bound volumes comprises two separate works:
1. "Des erreurs et des préjugés répandus dans les diverses classes de la société (t.p. of vol. 4 'Préjugés des réputations'). 4 volumes, rarely found complete thus.
2. "Des erreurs et des préjugés répandus dans les dix-huitième et dix-neuvième siècles.' 2 volumes.
A number of entries in Flaubert’s “Dictionnaire des idées reçues” (q.v.) have been inspired by Salgues’ “Erreurs et préjugés”. ---”What he drew from Salgues were bizarre beliefs, superstitions, and extravagances of natural history, and we find them in the Dictionary, some summarized, others reproduced word for word.”(transl.)---Green, A.
